Do Wicketon Ki Jhatka – Fans React as Siraj Removes Stokes for Golden Duck in Back-to-Back Deliveries
Siraj made a strong comeback after a bad start, taking Root and Stokes in two balls. England fell apart early on Day 3.

Mohammed Siraj had a rough start on Day 3 of the second Test at Edgbaston. He couldn’t get his run-up right twice in a row. The second time, the English crowd booed him. When he finally bowled his first ball, they clapped sarcastically. That sort of start can shake any bowler’s confidence. But not Siraj.
Just two balls later, he turned it around completely. He got Joe Root out down the leg side. It wasn’t even a great ball just on the pads. Root moved too much towards the stumps and fell over a bit. He couldn’t get the full face of the bat on it. The ball brushed the inside edge and Rishabh Pant took a sharp catch to his left.
“Joe Root is devastated,” said Dinesh Karthik on commentary. Root looked heartbroken. On a pitch good for batting, with England chasing India’s huge 587, he was their biggest hope. But he was out for just 22 in a surprising way. Then Ben Stokes walked in at No.5. He hadn’t scored well in the series so far but looked confident. Siraj ran in and bowled a nasty ball that rose from a good length. Stokes had no time to react. It hit the top of his bat and went straight to Pant. He was out for a golden duck.
Siraj had turned a shaky start into a dream over in just three balls getting Root and Stokes in back-to-back deliveries. Don’t forget, he had also dismissed Zak Crawley late on Day 1. England had started Day 3 at 77 for 3, still 510 runs behind. By the second over of the day, they were 83 for 5. “It’s the moving day and India are moving in the right direction,” said Karthik on commentary.
