The IPL 2026 starts where it ended, with the 19th season of India’s big-money league kicking off in Bengaluru. Defending champions and hosts RCB returned to the Chinnaswamy Stadium for the first time since last year’s tragic stampede. They faced an Ishan Kishan-led Sunrisers Hyderabad team. RCB’s captain won the toss and chose to field first against Ishan Kishan and his team.

Addressing this special crowd, former England captain and well-known cricket expert Kevin Pietersen was very impressed by the loud and energetic atmosphere at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. During the pre-match buildup, he praised the passion of the home fans and said the environment was very special for both fans and players.

His words showed the excitement and energy the Bengaluru crowd brought to the full stadium. What is usually just a cricket match turned into a lively show of sport’s power to bring people together. Pietersen said this captured the spirit of the Chinnaswamy crowd and explained why it is one of the most exciting places to watch cricket.

Kevin Pietersen praises the electric atmosphere at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

RCB has always been known for its passionate crowds and loyal fans. The Chinnaswamy Stadium comes alive every match, with supporters cheering loudly for every boundary and wicket. Their energy and excitement create one of the most electric atmospheres in the IPL, making every game special for both players and spectators.

Former England captain and cricket expert Kevin Pietersen was also amazed by the crowd experience. Before the start of the game, he tweeted, “If you love sport and the atmosphere that it brings, you HAVE TO, once in your life, come to this venue and watch an IPL game. It doesn’t get better anywhere in the world.” He also shared a photo of the Chinnaswamy crowd with the tweet.

Notably, after last year’s stampede that claimed the lives of eleven people, security has been strengthened at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Fans are now required to follow stricter rules while entering the stadium to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
