Legendary Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement time from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and professional cricket.  

Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) started the CPL 2024 season on Saturday night. Before their tournament opener, the 40-year-old Dwayne Bravo confirmed that the CPL 2024 would be his last professional tournament. 

On his official Instagram account, Bravo wrote, “It’s been a great journey. Today I would like to announce my retirement from @cplt20. This season will be my last one ☝️ and I’m looking forward to a playing my final professional tournament in front of my Caribbean ppl! @tkriders - where it all started for me and will end with my team that I help built from scratch!”

Trinbago Knight Riders started the CPL 2024 campaign with the third-highest CPL total. While Trinbago scored 250/4, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots replied with 206/8. In that 44-run win, Trinbago star Dwayne Bravo finished the game wicketless (2-0-19-0).

Dwayne Bravo records most T20 wickets

Dwayne Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket history. The right-arm medium pacer has picked up 630 wickets in 579 T20s. He has recorded 11 four-fers and two five-wicket hauls.

Meanwhile, the right-handed batter Bravo has scored 6970 T20 runs with an average of 22.41 and a strike rate of 125.49. He has recorded 20 T20 fifties, including his best score of 70 not out.

Dwayne Bravo is one of the most successful players in the CPL history

Bravo is one of the most successful players in the CPL history. He has experienced five CPL trophy winnings. After Bravo’s Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel won the CPL 2015, he led the Trinbago Knight Riders to win the back-to-back CPL 2017 and CPL 2018 titles. As a player, Bravo won the CPL 2020 for TKR. 

In the CPL 2021, Bravo captained St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to win their first CPL title. 

Bravo is the most wicket-taker in the CPL history, with 128 wickets in 104 games. The right-handed batter has also scored 1956 runs in the CPL, including 11 fifties.
