ENG vs IND 2025: KL Rahul goes past 9000 International runs
KL Rahul crossed 9000 international runs and also became the second Indian opener to score 1000 Test runs in England. He played an important knock with Shubman Gill after England took a big lead.

KL Rahul reached a special milestone in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford. The Indian batter needed 60 runs to complete 9000 international runs, and he got there during the second session on Day 4.
Rahul scored 46 in the first innings. When he reached 14 runs in the second innings, he crossed the 9000-run mark. He now has more than 9000 runs from 219 matches and 256 innings in all formats. His record includes 19 hundreds and 58 fifties, with a best score of 199. He now sits 16th on the list of India’s top run-scorers.

Earlier in the match, Rahul also became just the second Indian opener to score 1000 Test runs in England. The only other Indian to do this was Sunil Gavaskar, who made 1152 runs in 16 Tests in England.

K.L Rahul also played a key role in the second innings, building a good partnership with Shubman Gill. India had scored 358 in the first innings, but England scored with a huge target 669, taking a lead of 311 runs. It was the first time since 2014 that India gave away over 600 runs in a Test innings.
