Heartbreak at Lord’s Cricket Ground. After some high drama, England won the third Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar trophy by a 22-run margin. Ravindra Jadeja fought gallantly until the fall of the 10th wicket in the second innings.
India needed only 193 runs to win the second straight match to maintain their momentum and took a 2-1 lead in the series. But another batting collapse left the team with broken hearts. Until Day 3, the match was looking one-sided, tilted slightly towards the Shubman Gill-led side.
From Day 4, the scenario began to change; England explored a path that took them to the finish line safely. In the first innings, the match was nicely poised, with no team with the upper hand. For India, in the second innings, the ray of hope was there until KL Rahul was on the track, and Rishabh Pant walked into the crease to start Day 5. The inclusion of Jofra Archer in place of Josh Tongue appeared as the trump card for captain Ben Stokes.

A fragile Indian batting lineup
India’s batting lineup lost its shape mostly when Archer clean bowled Pant. Rahul, without any significant support from the opposite end, could not hold the anchor tightly, and he had to pay the price against the priceless wicket.
Ravindra Jadeja, at number 7, made an unbeaten 61 off 181 deliveries but for a losing cause. Archer and Stokes bagged three wickets each, and Brydon Carse got 2 scalps to outclass Team India. After winning the test match at Lord’s, the home team now has a 2-1 advantage in the 5-match series.
Key Moments of Day 5:
- Wickets of Pant and Rahul
- Top-class bowling by Stokes and Archer
- India's collapsing batting lineup
