England recovered from the early blows caused by Nitish Kumar Reddy. The second day of the ongoing 3rd Test can start with a huge applause by the audience at the Lord's. Joe Root is only a single run away from making another milestone hundred of his Test career and against India. His love for India continues in the ongoing match as well.

After the stumps of Day 1, the batting maestro remained unbeaten for 99, accompanied by skipper Ben Stokes, who stands tall at 39 not out of 102 balls. At the initial stage of the match, Nitish Kumar Reddy put the stage on fire with his couple of magical deliveries to dismiss both of the England openers—Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. An absolute jaffa from Reddy clinched Zak from the yard.

After the initial setbacks, Joe and Ollie Pope, with their guards on, pulled the team out of the mounting pressure created by Team India. The pair dragged the total from 44 for 2 to 153 before Ravindra Jadeja pocketed the scalp of Pope, while Root displayed characteristic grit to hold a side of the wicket, while Harry Brook departed after an unplayable delivery by Jasprit Bumrah, who took off the stumps to bowl out the dangerous middle-order batsman.

Before the day ended, a partnership between Root and Stokes was looking promising at the Lord's. After Day 1, England got 251 for 4 on the scoreboard. Jasprit Bumrah, with only one wicket in his bag, produced the most economical bowling (1.94) of the day.

Akash Deep, who took a 10-fer in the previous encounter, is yet to get a wicket. Mohammed Siraj also remained wicketless in the match so far.

Key Moments of the day:
