England vs. India, 3rd Test, Lord's

England: 387

India: 145/3 (43 Overs)

The England vs. India third match of the ongoing Tendulkar-Anderson trophy has been poised nicely after Day 2. England got a couple of wickets in the last session of the day's play. Chris Woakes got a huge wicket in India skipper Shubman Gill with an attacking field set.

The day was mostly marked by the bowlers from both ends. Joe Root's another Test century was near obvious at the beginning of the day, as he needed only 1 run to touch the milestone. Apart from his 104-run innings, Jamie Smith's 51 and 56 from Brydon Carse helped them to take the total to 387.

Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets on Day 2 and a fifer in the first innings. Harry Brook, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, and Jofra Archer lost their scalps against the India pace spearhead. Mohammed Siraj accompanied his teammate with another two wickets.

England caught the big fish early

Jofra Archer made his comeback in the special format through the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal departed for an individual 13. KL Rahul and Karun Nair managed the early damage well enough and pulled the team from 13/1 to 74, where Nair's (40) wicket was taken by Ben Stokes delivery and Root's safe pair of hands.

The dismissal of Shubman Gill was a surprising one of the day, considering the number of runs he has produced so far in the innings. To put extra pressure on Gill, England keeper Samith came close to the wicket. That move worked for the home team. The right-handed batter produced a soft edge, and Smith, with his gloves, collected the ball without making any trouble.
