A fairly balanced Test match at Lord’s. After Day 3 of the England vs. India 3rd Test (ENG vs. IND 3rd Test) of the ongoing Tendulkar-Anderson trophy, India was bowled out for 387, like England in their first innings. As of now, no teams have any sort of advantage to influence the fate of the important clash.

India was maintaining a nice shape with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant on the crease. After the run-out of Pant and Rahul’s departure at his individual 100, England started to tilt the momentum of the match. Accompanied by Jofra Archer’s fiery bowling, the other pacers of the home team—Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse—did what the team urged from them: destroying India’s middle and lower batting order.

Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy built a promising partnership, but by then, the host started to find their rhythm. The 73rd over of the innings from Archer was the rainbands before the eye of a cyclone. Rahul and Pant stitched a 141-run partnership, while Reddy and Jadeja’s collaboration added 72 runs to the scoreboard.

Key Moments of Day 3:

  • Rishabh Pant's run-out
  • Jofra Archer and England's pace department
  • Pant-KL Rahul partnership

Watch, wait, and strike...

Pant’s run out can be considered as one of the turning points of the game. Ben Stokes, with his quickness and accuracy, dismissed the southpaw by only a few inches.

The team, coached by former New Zealand international Brendon McCullum, waited with patience like an apex predator and launched an attack when they found their target in a vulnerable position. On Day 3, the surface of the Lord’s showed a lot of characteristics; bowlers got both pace and bounce. It’ll be interesting to see how the India bowlers performed under a pressure situation and possibly on a slightly dry pitch.

ENG vs IND 3rd Test Day 3 scoreboard in brief:

Batsman Runs/ Balls Bowler Runs/ Overs
KL Rahul 100 (177) Chris Woaks 3/84 (27)
Rishabh Pant  74 (112) Jofra Archer  2/52 (23.2)
Ravindra Jadeja 72 (131) Ben Stokes  2/63 (20)
