On Tuesday (February 3), England U19 chose to bat first after winning the toss at Bulawayo. While England U19 scored 277/7 in 50 overs, Australia U19 were all out for 250 runs in 47.3 overs.

Struggling at 60/3 by losing the top three batters, English captain Thomas Rew and Caleb Falconer had a 135-run partnership for the fourth wicket. After Falconer was dismissed for 40 off 53 balls, skipper Thomas carried his innings along with other middle-order batters.
While Thomas completed his half-century in 46 balls, he completed the crucial century in 97 balls. Before losing his wicket in the 43rd over, he scored 110 off 107 balls with 14 fours and one six. Lately, Farhan Ahmed had a useful cameo of 28 not out off 26 balls, as England U19 managed a challenging total.
Among the Aussie teenagers, Hayden Schiller (2/31) and Naden Cooray (2/49) picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Australia U19 were losing wickets at regular intervals, which disturbed their chase. They had only one 50+ partnership as the opener Nitesh Samuel and captain Oliver Peake had a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. After Nitesh was dismissed for 47 runs, captain Oliver fought hard till the end, but hardly got any proper support.
While Oliver slammed 100 off 88 balls with 10 fours and one six, the no.7 batter Aryan Sharma was the other batter to manage the 20-run mark with 34 runs.
All six English bowlers picked up wickets, while four of them got two wickets each.

England U19 won the title in the 1998 edition by beating New Zealand U19, while they finished as the runners-up in the 2022 edition after India U19 beat them.
