'Level of consistency' - Fans react as India beat New Zealand to lift T20 World Cup 2026 trophy

The Indian cricket team lifts the trophy in the T20 World Cup 2026 final after beating New Zealand by 96 runs. From losing the ODI World Cup 2023 to winning the T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad, India's journey has been truly inspirational. This is their third T20 World Cup trophy and also the third ICC trophy in three years. 

This was an extremely difficult journey for the team since they played at home. Until today, none of the teams have won a home World Cup. But the Men in Blue defeated all odds and scripted history today. It was a stellar performance by Sanju Samson, whose remarkable innings helped India put 255 runs on the board. The victory margin was huge, and so was the score. 

Samson went on to win the Player of the Tournament award for scoring 321 runs in five innings, at an average of 80.25. He scripted his comeback in such a way that the whole nation will remember him for a long time. The right-handed batter came into the team in the latter half of the tournament and scored three consecutive centuries as well.

Jasprit Bumrah was an impact player in today's match, picking up four wickets in the second innings. He went on to dismiss the batters at regular intervals, giving the much-needed breakthrough. Bumrah didn't allow them to settle down, and that's why New Zealand stumbled quickly and ended up losing the match by a huge margin.
