India will face Zimbabwe in their next Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup on Thursday (February 26) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It is a must-win game for the hosts. They also need a big victory because their net run rate dropped after a 76-run loss to the South Africa national cricket team.

This was India’s biggest defeat in T20 World Cup history. The heavy loss has hurt their chances of reaching the semi-finals. Now, India must win their next two matches and depend on other results to qualify for the final four.

Before the match, a controversy started after Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India, shared a promo for the India vs Zimbabwe Super 8 match. In the video, two fans from both teams were seen having a fun argument about their teams. The promo began with the title “Do or Die.” However, many fans felt the video was disrespectful. They criticized the promo on social media and called it inappropriate.

India vs Zimbabwe Head-to-Head Ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

India have enjoyed a strong record against the Zimbabwe national cricket team in T20 Internationals over the years. The two teams have met multiple times in bilateral series as well as ICC events, with India winning most of the contests. Zimbabwe have managed a few wins, but overall, India holds a clear advantage in the head-to-head record.

As they prepare to face each other in the T20 World Cup 2026, past results show that India enter the clash with confidence based on their dominant record against Zimbabwe in the shortest format.
