The left-handed young opening batter for the Rajasthan Royals, Vaibav Suryavanshi, came into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with lots of promise after his sensational form and knock during the final of the U19 World Cup 2026, which the Indian side went on to win after beating England in the final at the Harare Sports Club.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was excellent in his very first season of the IPL last year as he slammed the first century of the league’s history and recorded 252 runs in seven innings at an average of 36 with a strike rate of 206.55, thanks to one fifty and the best score of 101 runs against the Gujarat Titans.

Post his batting in the second innings during Rajasthan Royals' opening game of the IPL 2026 campaign against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Suryavanshi came into the post-match presentation and made a very cute reply to his birthday celebration.
The Bihar-born revealed that he decided to fall asleep soon after he turned 15, and his birthday was celebrated as he had the fear of his face being covered by the cake by his friends.
“On my birthday, I fell asleep so no one could smear cake on me, and I was thinking about how I’d play against the bowlers and smash them (Laughs).” The southpaw expressed in the presentation.

Suryavanshi has overall smashed 753 runs in 19 innings of the T20s at an average of 41.83 and a strike rate of 209.16 with the help of three centuries and a couple of half-centuries at the best score of 144 runs.

Against the five-time champions, Suryavanshi drilled a thrilling knock of 52 runs in just 17 balls with the help of four boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 305.88 as the Royals completed the chase of 128 runs by eight wickets in just 12.1 overs. The franchise made its way to the top of the points table.
