The 41st game of the 14th season of the IPL saw the KKR lock horns with the DC in Abu Dhabi. KKR has vanquished DC chasing down a target of 128 runs with 10 balls to spare at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, making their place at fourth in the points table. Having won 8 out of first 10 matches, the Capitals were thought to be in red-hot form, but were unfortunate to have lost the match.
KKR opener Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi departed within the powerplay in spite of having a good start in their run-chase. Sunil Narine was seen to be back in form and counter-attacked on getting a free-hit with a 6-4-6 in consecutive three deliveries making 21 runs in just 10 deliveries while Rana hit the winning runs. DC were restricted to 127/9 in their 20 overs where KKR chose to bowl first and the KKR bowlers started strongly restricting their scores through regular wickets. KKR made two changes, bringing in Tim Southee and Sandeep Warrier in place of Andre Russell and Prasidh Kirishna. Eoin Morgan is again seen off the form, getting out at the very first delivery. The young south lad made an instant impact in his maiden IPL season as he smashed an imperious 27-ball 41 against RCB and followed it up with a 30-ball 53 against the Mumbai Indians, but couldn’t keep up to our expectations on the last match. They next play the Punjab Kings on Friday with Russel on injury in Dubai at 7:30 IST. Can KKR perform an encore or will Punjab Kings have a commanding win?
We’ll keep our eyes hooked to the screen, where they will be looking to officially seal their spot with another victory.
