India got the exact start they wanted to kick off Day 3 of the ongoing Headingley Test. With the help of Prasidh Krishna, Team India got rid of the centurion Ollie Pope. Within the first 30 minutes of the day, the tall Indian pacer got extra bounce from the wicket and waved Pope for a catch behind the stumps.

Rishabh Pant continues his dream run as the vice-captain of the Test team through the catch he took to dismiss the England batsman. After facing 137 deliveries, Pope went out for 106 runs with 14 boundaries. The catch was too easy for Pant to grab with his gloves. The right-handed batter went to cut the ball, but the extra bounce only got the thick edge for a catch behind the stumps.

With this grab, Rishabh Pant completed his 150th catch in the Whites. During India's first innings, Pant, with his natural aggressive batting style, scored 134 against 178 deliveries, powered by twelve 4s and six over-boundaries; so far, the most number of 6s hit by any batter.

Pant found his form at the right time

Before taking a flight to England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the 27-year-old as the vice-captain of team India's Test set-up and Shubman Gill as the newly appointed captain of the team. Ahead of the 5-match Test series against England, the southpaw's performances in IPL 2025 caused worries for the Indian cricket fans.

Pant found his form at the right moment; in Lucknow Super Giants' last game of the 2025 Indian Premier League, he scored a century and did a backflip. His next backflip was staged in the Headingley stadium after completing the 7th Test century, the most number of centuries by any Indian keeper.
