Leaving Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the Asia Cup 2025 squad began a fresh controversy. After scoring tons of runs in all three formats, why did the board decide not to pick him for the prestigious tournament, leaving cricket fans clueless.

In the meantime, an old video of Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has started to surface on social media platforms. In the conversation, Gambhir claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal should play all three formats for Team India and be an automatic choice for the Men in Blue. "I believe Jaiswal must be in India’s T20 team, not just for one tournament but even for the next World Cup….He should be playing for India in all three formats", he said before.

In support of the remarks, Gambhir put some light on the southpaw's domestic career stats, where he scored runs relentlessly. The highly talented batsman, only 23 years old, has already played 23 T20Is for Team India and scored 723 runs in total at an average of 36.15. After making his T20I debut in August 2023, the batter played multiple crucial games for the Men in Blue. Keeping an average around 36 after playing over twenty matches at the highest level proved how talented he is.

Why Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the Asia Cup 2025 team?

Jaiswal's first-class stats are more attractive than his international stats. The Uttar Pradesh native has multiple domestic cricket double hundreds under his belt, including his highest individual innings of 265 runs. The video was probably shot before Gambhir's job as Team India's head coach.

 Now, when India is playing under his coaching, cricket fans are wondering why the team management did not include Yashasvi for the Asia Cup 2025 team. "Yashasvi missed out. It is hard on him, but it was between him and Abhishek Sharma, who has done well for India in the T20Is", chief selector Ajit Agarkar said.
