Gautam Gambhir to become Iceland cricket team coach? Iceland Cricket issues statement

Is the Iceland cricket governing body interested in Gautam Gambhir as their next head coach? Through the 'X' platform, Iceland Cricket has made a hilarious post, where they have clarified their thinking on appointing a new head coach keeping an eye on their future endeavors. 

Under head coach Gautam Gambhir, team India has been going through a tough time in Test cricket. In the ongoing 2-match Test series, India is again on the verge of losing another contest in the Whites. After the poor performance at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the team is struggling in the Guwahati Test as well. The home team batting lineup collapsed after South Africa's first innings 489 runs. India, in reply, was able to register only 201 runs in their first innings. 

South Africa, led by captain Temba Bavuma, is playing the Guwahati Test with a 1-0 lead. Which means only a draw will be enough for them to claim the Test series. Indian cricket fans and former India internationals are furious over Gautam Gambhir's tactics and the selection of the playing XI. Netizens have started to demand Gambhir's resignation immediately.

Iceland Cricket issues statement on Gautam Gambhir

In the meantime, while Indian cricket fans are urging Gambhir to step down from the head coach role, Iceland Cricket has made a hilarious 'X' post. They clearly stated that they have no intention to appoint Gautam Gambhir as their next head coach, as they are happy enough with their existing coach. 

"To all our fans, no, Gautam Gambhir will not be invited to be our new national team coach. "That position is already filled, and we won 75% of our matches in 2025," Iceland Cricket said this on November 24, 2025.
