The snub of Shubman Gill might have left a massive impression among the BCCI officials as well. The Team India head coach chose to remain silent on the team selection for the T20 World Cup, which will start in the next year. Ahead of the tournament, some surprising reports about Gambhir have been surfacing on social media platforms.

According to some reports, Gambhir is clearly not happy about the omission of Gill from the T20I squad. After that, the head coach might have cleared his stance on the board officials. He can treat the 2026 World Cup as an acid test.

If the rumors are to be believed, then the Team India head coach set a bar for himself. As of now, his only target is to win the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup, as his goal is to win ICC trophies for Team India. If the team failed to win the prestigious trophy under his coaching, he could even think about stepping down from his current position, reports suggested. It is possible that, regarding this, Gautam Gambhir might have conveyed the message directly to BCCI President Mithun Manhas after the T20 World Cup selection meeting.

Currently, Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently 35 and has been out of form for a long time, is the T20I captain of the Men in Blue brigade. For the T20I World Cup, the team management showed their faith in Yadav; he will lead the team as the skipper in the 2026 World Cup. The team's performance in the tournament is going to be very crucial in various aspects.
