England became the first team to qualify for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 Semi-finals after securing a thrilling win, where the English captain Harry Brook played a memorable century knock to almost single-handedly secure the win. 

Pallekele hosted the match on Tuesday night (February 24), where Pakistan chose to bat first. Pakistan scored 164/9 in 20 overs, where the in-form opener Sahibzada Farhan scored 63 off 45 balls, and three middle-order batters managed to score 20s. 

Harry Brook scored 100 off 51 balls

In reply, Pakistan got a strong start, as England were struggling at 35/3 and 58/4. However, captain Harry Brook was the key factor, who promoted himself to the no.3 batting position. With the help of middle-order batters, Brook played an unforgettable innings. He became the first captain to score a century in the history of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, as the right-handed batter scored 100 off 51 balls with 10 fours and four sixes. 

Pakistan bowlers fought hard till the end, but England just managed to chase down the target in 19.1 overs after losing eight wickets. With this win, England have qualified for the Semi-finals, as they have four points after two matches in Group 2 of the Super Eights.
