Till the last ball of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 contest between the Delhi Capitals and the Gujarat Titans, no one was sure about the winner as the game was wide open during the chase. Prasidh Krishna’s superb last over helped the visitors complete the nervy one-run victory as David Miller failed to shoulder them over the line.

Gujarat Titans, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, opened their account with their very first victory of the campaign and placed themselves at the sixth position in the points table with one win in three clashes at a net run rate of -0.270. Meanwhile, the Capitals, experiencing their first defeat, dropped to fourth position.

On the first delivery of the last powerplay over, Ashok Sharma dragged his length back and put the line outside the off stump. KL Rahul backed away and steered it up and over the backward point region.

Glenn Phillips, who was standing inside the 30-yard circle at the start of the over, ran a long way across, dived forward, and tried his best to attempt the diving catch. But the ball bounced in front of him and ricocheted off his trousers and into the ropes.

The over didn’t go well for the Rajasthan-born pacer. Pathum Nissanka clubbed the third delivery over the covers for another boundary before backing it up with a six that he nailed inside out over cover. The Sri Lankan batter finished the over with two successive boundaries.

Gujarat Titans held their nerve to earn one-run victory

Gujarat, despite losing Sai Sudharsan early into the innings, got a strong platform thanks to Jos Buttler’s strong knock of 52 runs in just 27 balls, with the help of three boundaries and five sixes. Gill and Washington Sundar put up a 104-run stand for the third wicket as they ended up with 210 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Rahul’s 92 runs in 52 balls, thanks to 11 boundaries and four sixes, was a massive contribution in the chase before David Miller’s aggressive knock of 41 runs in 20 balls kept them in the chase. But Prasidh Krishna’s two dot balls on the last couple of deliveries turned the game in their favor.
