Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by 3 wickets

Gujarat Titans registered a thrilling 3-wicket win over Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur in Chandigarh in the 37th match of the ongoing IPL 2024. Shubman Gill and Rahul Tewatia smashed quick knocks and Sai Kishore claimed four wickets and helped the team win.

PBKS players failed to do well with the bat

Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. PBKS openers got off to a flying start. Both Sam Curran and Prabhsimran maintained their good form and added 52 runs within 5.3 overs. Sam Curran scored 20 off 19 with 2 fours whereas Prabhsimran smashed 35 off 21 with 3 fours and as many sixes.

However, after their dismissals, middle-order couldn’t contribute much until Harpreet Brar stepped in. He scored 29 off 12 with 4 fours and a six. And, they managed to post 142 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Rahul Tewatia scored a quick fifty

While chasing, GT had a steady start as their opener Wriddhiman Saha got out for a mere 13. However, Shubman Gill steadied the ship with Sai Sudharsan. While Gill scored 35 off 29 with 5 fours, Sai smashed 31 off 34.

However, Rahul Tewatia played a quickfire knock of 36* off 18 with the help of 7 fours. His quickfire knock helped Gujarat Titans win the game with 3 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

Shubman Gill, GT captain said after the win: Would have liked to finish it earlier, good to get those two points. (Captaincy) It’s been very exciting for me to be able to take up this role. Except the over-rate, everything good. When I am out there batting, I want to play as a batter. He (Livingstone) was trying to rush me there but the ball that I got out, I would have made that decision even without that bit.

Sai Kishore, the Player of the Match said after the game: Just trying to give my 120% to my team, playing after 20-25 days, so just wanted to go there and enjoy myself and give my everything. Ashish Nehra has created a beautiful environment where we can be fearless and play for the team. He told me to enjoy myself and gave me a lot of freedom.
