Indian pacer Deepak Chahar, who used to be a key bowler for Team India in the limited overs formats, acknowledged Rohit Sharma's brilliance as a captain. Chahar reveals in a recent interview, it was Rohit Sharma, who supported him the most to become a lethal bowler for the Men in Blue.

A few years back, during the year 2018, team India was going through a transition phase. They were looking for a fresh bowling combination in limited overs cricket. Deepak Chahar appeared as one of most promising pacer by the time. He made his T20I debute in that year and play back-to-back matches for India. He played a few ODIs as well.

Chahar took the headlines when he claimed a hat-trick against Bangladesh in a T20I match. Chahar achieved his famous T20I hat-trick against Bangladesh in Nagpur on November 10, 2019, becoming the first Indian to do so in T20 Internationals, with extraordinary figures of 6 wickets for just 7 runs. Till date, the figure is considered as one of the most memorable stints made by an Indian seamer. Despite the heroic moment, the career graph of the Uttar Pradesh-born gradually curved down.

During the recent interaction, Chahar said that Rohit Sharma, who was then the captain of Team India, helped him a lot to grow like a prime bowler. As Rohit used to have a clear game plan and good communication with the players, Chahar could execute the plan properly.

Deepak Chahar praised how Rohit Sharma used to support the bowlers

"Rohit bhaiya is very supportive. He is bowlers captain, he clearly explains his plans and helps bowlers understand what to do and what not to do. In the match where I took a hat-trick, he was the captain", Deepak Chahar said.

"He told me that he wouldn’t give me the first over and that he would use me like Bumrah, as his main bowler. The way he used me made all the difference, and because of that, I took the hat-trick and created a world record."
