David Miller was gutted as he failed to carry his Delhi Capitals (DC) side over the line against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Following the loss, the 2020 runners-up dropped to the fourth position of the points table, after experiencing their first defeat in three encounters.

Titans, on the other hand, have enjoyed their first win of the season, having lost the previous clashes against the Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals. The Shubman Gill-led side, who held their nerve in the last two balls of the game, completed the one-run victory.

David Miller visibly emotional after narrow loss

David Miller was spotted sitting alone in the dressing room as the video clip, shared by the franchise on X (formerly known as Twitter), indicated clearly how much the southpaw was unable to get over the one-run loss from a position where they were the favorites to earn the victory.

Delhi’s head coach, Hemang Badani, walked up to Miller to console him in the room while the captain, Axar Patel, felt that they should keep a smile on their faces, irrespective of the result. He admitted that his side could have been a little smarter in the chase and pointed out how crucial it was that wickets falling regularly didn’t help them towards the end.

“Yeah, obviously the way we are playing, I think both teams played a very good, I think, a very good cricket. I think in the chase, we could have played smarter. The crucial time at which the wickets fell, I think if that hadn't happened, we could have finished the chase earlier. The spinner expressed in the post-match presentation.

Miller was also injured in the batting as he was retired hurt and came back later in the chase of 211 runs. He was still struggling to get going with the injured hand.

GT edge past DC in dramatic IPL 2026 finish

Heading into the penultimate over of the fixture, Delhi needed 36 runs off 12 balls as Miller gave them the hope with two sixes and as many boundaries against Mohammad Siraj to gain 23 runs off the gain and brought the equation to 13 runs requiring off the last six balls as Krishna was given the responsibility.

The first ball was smashed for a boundary by Vipraj Nigam, while the fourth ball was smacked by the South Africa batter out of the ground for an over boundary. On the fifth delivery, he refused to give the strike to Kuldeep Yadav and couldn’t get the single on the last ball to lose the game by one run.
