Huge hint about Sai Sudharsan's playing chances for ENG vs IND 2nd Test

When most of the talking is about whether Jasprit Bumrah will play in the next game or not, the Indian team management is slowly but surely preparing the team in the nets. In Headingley, India's top-order batter performed well enough in both innings. But there are always some gaps to make some improvements.

When most of the talking is about whether Jasprit Bumrah will play in the next game or not, the Indian team management is slowly but surely preparing the team in the nets. In Headingley, India's top-order batter performed well enough in both innings. But there are always some gaps to make some improvements.

For example, Sai Sudharsan. The Chennai-born batter got his chance to shine for the Men in Blue Brigade after a successful 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. Through the league, he showed his brilliant techniques against some of the established bowlers of the cricket world. Sudharshan at number 3, in the first of the ongoing 5-match Test series, was not a surprising decision by the Indian team management. Now, Sudharshan needs to show his mettle as he gets the best stage to launch his international career.

In Leeds, the top-order batsman underperformed. India faced a reality check when England chased down 371 to win the series opener. After the defeat, multiple cricket experts suggested the team make some changes in the playing combination. Sai Sudharsan in the first innings returned to the pavilion without scoring a single run, and in the following innings, the 23-year-old scored 30. Should India drop him from the upcoming Edgbaston Test?

Saturday's practice session suggested a different scenario. It was an optional practice day for the players. As per reports, Captain Shubman Gill, Vice-Captain Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal skipped the practice. Sudharshan was at the nets, and according to media claims, he was the first batter in the nets.

So, it is now speculated that Team India is perhaps not thinking of dropping Sudharshan from the playing XI. He can continue at number 3.
