No matter what the situation is, Rinku Singh has a very clear mind. He wants to score, score for winning causes. Since his breakout season with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), fans and experts label the batter as a 'finisher'. But Rinku himself has prepared his mind as a batter who can perform from any position.

During a recent interview with the Times of India, the Uttar Pradesh-born unfolded himself. Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, he came up with a confident mind and consistent form with his state team. During the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Singh played multiple impactful knocks for the team. 67 off 48 balls against Hyderabad and an unbeaten 57 off 30 against Vidarbha were a couple of instances where the batter showed his batting strength in cameo roles. As he has been scoring runs in a consistent manner, the selectors had no option but to pick Rinku for the T20 World Cup, after he was ignored for the India vs South Africa limited-overs series.

"Everyone feels good when their name is included. Getting into this Team India is very important. Playing the World Cup for the country is a matter of destiny. When a player is left out, it is usually due to team combinations. Sometimes, because the combinations do not work out, a player does not get a place," Rinku Singh said in the interview.

Rinku Singh wishes to bat from any position

He further expresses that he does not want to restrict himself only as a finisher or a cameo batter but wants to bat from any position. For example, he stated some of his domestic half-centuries which he got during the power plays.

"At the position I usually bat, people see me more as a ‘finisher', but I don't believe I can only play that role. I can bat anywhere. I've batted in the powerplay in domestic cricket and for India. I've scored all three of my fifties in the powerplay," he added.
