Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan played a crucial innings in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash against India on Sunday, guiding his side to a competitive total of 171. At a time when wickets kept falling, he showed composure and stability, holding the innings together. Farhan scored a well-constructed 58 from 45 deliveries before being dismissed by India’s all-rounder Shivam Dube.

While his half-century provided Pakistan with a much-needed platform, it was not just the runs that caught everyone’s attention. The real buzz began after he reached his fifty and marked the moment with a unique celebration. Farhan raised eyebrows by performing a ‘gun gesture’ after completing the milestone, instantly sparking conversations on social media.

Sahibzada Farhan Talks About his Celebration:

At a press conference on Monday, ahead of Pakistan’s second Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka, Sahibzada Farhan was questioned about his celebration in the India match. The 29-year-old confidently stated that he wasn’t concerned about others’ opinions, explaining he chose to celebrate in a way that felt right to him, regardless of outside reactions.

He said, “ I think, if you talk about the sixes, you will see that (a lot) in the future. And that (celebration) was just a moment at that time. I do not do a lot of celebrations after scoring 50. But, it suddenly came to my mind that let's do a celebration today. I did that. I don't know how people will take it.”

He further said, “ I don't care about that. And the rest, you know, you should play aggressive cricket wherever you play. It is not necessary that it is India. You should play aggressive cricket against every team, like we played today.”

Sahibzada Farhan also Talks About Pakistan’s Road Ahead:

When discussing Pakistan’s approach for the upcoming clash against Sri Lanka, Sahibzada Farhan admitted that early wickets in the powerplay had hurt the team in previous games. He stressed the need to improve their start by preserving wickets while also ensuring they score consistently in the opening six overs to set a solid platform.

He added, “ I think in the last few matches what was missing was that we were not utilising powerplays well. We were giving early wickets. It is important to use the powerplays well and also not give away wickets.”

He concluded, “ The way we played in powerplays today, we did not give away early on wickets. God willing, our powerplay was also very good as we scored 90 something runs in 10 overs. We did collapse in the middle but we will rectify it.”
