ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: England vs New Zealand, 1st Match - Toss Update
New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl in the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Four years after that thrilling final match at Lord’s, which England won on the boundary counts over New Zealand, both teams are all set to take on each other at Narendra Modi Stadium in India. A lot of cricket has been played in between and a few changes in the squad have also taken place. But the excitement is still the same for the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup.
However, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl in the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They wouldn’t get the service of their key player and the captain, Kane Williamson. He has sustained an injury during the IPL 2023 and he is currently recovering from that as well and hopes to get back soon in the squad as well.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Who said what at the toss?
Tom Latham: “Going to have a bowl. Looks a reasonably good surface. Hopefully later on it gets better to bat. Preparation has been great. Guys came together from different parts of the world a week ago. Unfortunately Kane’s not quite ready yet. Ferguson has got a bit of a niggle. Sodhi, Kane, Southee all miss out.”
Jos Buttler: “Would’ve bowled first as well. Looks a really good wicket. Preparation has been okay. Had a good series against NZ at home. Very proud of the achievement four years ago. Ben’s going to miss this game. Has a niggle with his hip. Guys missing out are Atkinson, Topley, Willey and Stokes.”
