ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026: Australia's full schedule revealed

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the complete schedule for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, as the defending champions, India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will play the curtain raiser against the United States of America (USA) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

A total of 40 group-stage clashes will take place between February 07 and 20, with the top two teams from each group moving to the Super Eight stage of the event starting on February 21. The main focus of the competition will also be on Australia, under the leadership of Mitchell Marsh.

Australia won their one and only T20 World Cup in 2020 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium when they got the better of New Zealand under the captaincy of Aaron Finch.

Australia will be happy with the schedule as they will not be required to travel a lot around different venues around the world. Their opening clash of the event will be on February 11, where they will be up against the Irish side at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. It will be a morning clash with no dew anticipated for the entire game.

The second game of the event will be against Zimbabwe two days later at the same venue. However, it will be an afternoon fixture where spin will come into the equation for the two sides. The third and fourth games of the competition for Australia in the group stage will take place at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

The third game will be against Sri Lanka, the co-hosts of the event, on February 16, before they lock horns with Oman. Both games will be played in the evening.
