The tension between India and Pakistan remains in the Asia Cup 2025. Ahead of the final of the tournament, there are some more updates around the India and Pakistan cricket teams. So far, in the ongoing contest, India vs Pakistan was held on two occasions—first, during the group stage, and second, during the Super Four phase.

In both matches, there were controversies. ICC match referee Richie Richardson heard both of the sides. Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been punished by the ICC for his "abusive language and aggressive gestures" during the Super 4 clash against India, while opener Sahibzada Farhan had to present in front of the match referee for his "gun-fire" gesture after scoring a fifty in the same match.

Gestures from both of the players were under scrutiny. According to media reports, Richardson conducted disciplinary hearings at the Pakistan team hotel and heard statements from those two Pakistani players, along with their team manager, Naveed Akram Cheema. After the hearing, Rauf was fined 30% of his match fees for violating the ICC Code of Conduct, and Farhan received a warning for his controversial celebration. Suryakumar Yadav was also fined 30% of his match fees for his comments.

ICC to take strict step against Pakistan cricket team?

As of now, updates regarding the hearings came through various media reports, not from any official statement. In the Asia Cup 2025 final, there will be another India vs. Pakistan match. It is highly believed that the International Cricket Council may not be going to release any official statement before the high-octane clash.

After the final, a possible official statement from ICC is expected to come. India is set to take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 28. It will be the first time when these two arch rivals will meet in the Asia Cup final.
