Heather Knight guided England's Women's cricket team to their second win on the trot in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2025. It was Knight who pulled out England from the mud and dragged it back to the road to victory against the Bangladesh Women's (BAN-W vs ENG-W) cricket team on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Assam.

Toss and the first inning:

The England Women's cricket team won the toss and decided to bowl first. The surface of the Barsapara cricket stadium was a little bit tough to bat on. The Bangladesh batting order was mostly vulnerable against the quality bowling of England. Sophie Ecclestone claimed 3 wickets and a brace each for Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean, and Alice Capsey. Bangladesh Women's, batting first, scored 178 in 49.4 overs. 60 from Sobhana Mostary and an unbeaten 43 runs from Rabeya Khatun pushed their team to the respective total.

Second Innings:

The low-scoring match turned into a thriller when Bangladesh managed to pick the 6th wicket when England was at 103. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt's dismissal could prove costly if Knight and the lower-middle batting order were unable to show their resilience. The target was not massive, but the pitch was not an ideal one to score runs at a quick pace. The toss might have played a role in deciding the result of the match. But for England's win tonight, Heather Knight with 79* off 111 was the Messiah for them.

"We lost some runs in the death overs, and they would look to improve on that. We have a balanced side, and Charlie Dean batting so well in the high-pressure situation was excellent... Heather Knight is excellent, and she reads the game really well," the England Women's captain said after the match with a big smile on her face.
