Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has decided to step away from BCCI commentary, surprising many in the cricketing world. The 60-year-old shared the news on social media, where his statement quickly gained attention. Known for speaking openly, he made it clear that this decision was not sudden but came after long-standing frustration.
Taking to X, he wrote, "I am retiring from commentary for BCCI." His post led to many questions from fans, asking why he chose to step away now. Sivaramakrishnan responded by mentioning his contribution over the years despite being a part of the commentary panel for a long time.
He also hinted at the fact that there was more behind his decision and that the real story was yet to come out. His strong words show that he felt he was not recognized and respected during his time with BCCI commentary.
Why Sivaramakrishnan walked away from BCCI commentary
Explaining his reason, he wrote, "If I have not been used for TOSSES and PRESENTATION for 23 years and new comers come in do pitch report Tosses Presentation even when Shastri was coaching, what do you think could be the reason." This clearly shows his disappointment about not being given major on-screen roles.

He further added, “This retirement is only the beginning of a story when told, general public ,cricket fans and everyone will be utterly Shocked. I am very happy that people who hate me are delighted. But those who thought I was at least decent. Thanks. BCCI will be left with disbelief.” His comments suggest that there may be deeper issues behind his exit.
Sivaramakrishnan’s Career Highlights
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan was a talented leg-spinner who gained fame during India’s 1985 World Championship victory. His performances at a young age had made him one of the promising players of his time and had earned him recognition at the international stage.
He played nine Test matches and picked up 26 wickets. In 16 ODIs, he claimed 15 wickets. Even though his cricketing career lasted a short time, he remained associated with cricket through domestic cricket matches and later went on to have a long commentary career, becoming a familiar voice for cricket fans over the years.
