Abhishek Sharma started off the run chase in style. In the first ball of the second innings, the young India opener pulled the delivery from Shaheen Afridi for a maximum. The crowd at Dubai International Stadium instantly went on their feet. 

Pakistan, batting first, registered 171 runs in their 20-over limit, losing 5 batters. India went to bowl first and was looking promising with Hardik Pandya, who quickly picked up the wicket of Fakhar Zaman. Pakistan recovered from the early blow with the help of Sahibzada Farhan's 58-run knock off 45 balls. The middle-order batters of the Pakistan cricket team did not score in big numbers but contributed in double-digit numbers. For which, they were able to cross the 170-run mark, which is a competitive total. 

India, during their Asia Cup 2025 group stage matches, batted and won the games by maintaining a healthy strike rate. Abhishek Sharma has been in form and is able to maintain his natural aggressive batting against Pakistan in the match as well.

Shaheen Afridi is one of the few bowlers from the full-time cricket-playing nations who has a rare feat under his belt. According to stats, the Pakistan pacer has bowled the first over in the T20I format 70 times, the second most by a bowler from a Full Member team. Abhishek Sharma became the first-ever batter in the world to hit him for a six off the first ball of his spell.

Afridi put the delivery a little bit on the shorter length, on the leg side, to surprise the southpaw early in the match. In reality, it was Abhishek who surprised the experienced pacer by sending the ball into the stand for a maximum. He played a well-controlled pull shot to dispatch the short ball.
