Team India got the deserving win in the first ODI against South Africa (IND vs SA 1st ODI). After the masterclasses from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Indian bowlers guided the team for a crucial win in the three-match ODI series. India won the first match by 17 runs, with Virat Kohli as the best player of the match for his match-winning 135 (120) knock.

The last over of the contest was turned into a thriller as SA needed only 17 runs in 6 balls. Experienced Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna summed up the things in style with two wickets in the first two balls of the very last ball of the over.

First Inning:

India, after losing the toss, went to bat first and registered 349 runs against 8 wickets in 50 overs. The wicket was fresh, and the South African pacer was gaining good bounce from it. But Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli turned the table and shifted the momentum towards the Men in Blue.

Rohit and stand-in captain KL Rahul, as Shubman Gill was not in the match due to a neck injury, scored half centuries, and Virat Kohli smashed a hundred in Ranchi. With the help from mainly these three batters, the home team scripted 349 runs in the first innings.

Second Innings:

Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh started things off for India in a good way with the new ball, as India got rid of three top-order batters of South Africa in quick times. SA, the away team and the winner of the 2-match Test series before the ODI series, started the counterattack through their middle-order batters. Matthew Breetzke (72) and Marco Jansen (70) appeared as a real threat for India. But the target proved too much for South Africa, and India won the match by 17 runs.
