The long-awaited return from injury of veteran captain Rohit Sharma is scheduled for the ODI series against Sri Lanka next month.
Rohit has been combating a thumb injury as of late and passed on India’s new two-match Test series in Bangladesh in front of a feverish forthcoming timetable.
At the beginning of next month, India will play Sri Lanka in six white-ball matches, three of which will be T20Is and three of which will be ODIs. Rohit has been chosen to lead a new team in preparation for the ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India.
During the most recent ODI series in Bangladesh, Dhawan filled in as captain and scored just 18 runs on three hits.
Rishabh Pant, a left-handed pitcher, is another big name who didn’t make either team. The BCCI didn’t say if they were dropped because of form, injury, or just being rested.
While Rohit will play in the ODI portion of the tour, experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya will captain the team for the three T20I matches. Star batter Suryakumar Yadav will be promoted to vice-captain.
Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are expected to get more opportunities at the top of India’s batting order, and regulars Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rohit will all miss the T20Is.

Ravindra Jadeja, a veteran all-rounder, is not considered for either squad because he is still recovering from a knee injury. Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar, on the other hand, received their first T20I calls.
