A day to remember for Jerrssis Wadia. The India-origin all-rounder took 2 wickets in the first two balls of the Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers Big Bash League 2025-26 (BBL 2025-26) match on January 17 at the Adelaide Oval.

The Renegades faced a batting disaster in this match as their batting line-up entirely collapsed for only 99 runs on the scoreboard. Their batting unit performed so poorly that they were unable to touch a three-digit total, batting first. Adelaide Strikers achieved the paltry target with ease, losing only a pair of wickets.

The batting collapse of the Renegades began with the failure of the top order. After losing two back-to-back scalps in the first two balls of the game, they could not collect themselves back for a fight back. In an unusual move, Strikers captain Matt Short introduced the emerging spinner Jerrssis Wadia with the new ball. This tricky move proved magical for Strikers. Tim Seifert and Jake Fraser-McGurk were the batters to fall short against Wadia. Mohammad Rizwan faced the third delivery of the over with a soft hand and denied 24-year-old Wadia a hat-trick.

The momentum the Strikers got from Jerrssis Wadia's over carried on with another spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi. The experienced South African spinner claimed 4 wickets for an economy rate of 3.91 in 3.5 overs. Lloyd Pope claimed a brace as well. Wadia, in his 2-over spell, claimed the wickets of Seifert and McGurk for an economy rate of 5.50.

Adelaide Strikers claimed the total in a steady manner in the second innings. Experienced openers Alex Carey and Matt Short added 37 runs together for the first wicket stand. After the departures of the openers, Chris Lynn and Liam Scott remained on the track to conclude the game.
