The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently dealing with multiple challenges ahead of the tour to England. Without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has to reshape the Test setup, which can pave the road to another World Test Championship (WTC) final.
India, multiple times a finalist of the WTC, is yet to win the trophy. In the previous circle, when the team was on song and at the top of the ranking chart, they lost the momentum by falling short in New Zealand and Australia miserably and missed another final spot.
The third major point BCCI needs to think about is the workload of Jasprit Bumrah. Without Rohit and Virat, Bumrah can be the main weapon in the team's armory. Another point that can play a major role in the squad structure is the English conditions. In their last overseas tour, India failed miserably against Australia. The home team exposed the visiting side in all departments and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by. Without Sharma and Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah can get a sure shot in the mix along with Rishabh Pant, who showed some exciting batting display in the land of kangaroos.

Along with these players, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal can be called up for the tournament. Keeping the pace-friendly typical pace-friendly conditions in mind, selectors can make room for Arshdeep Singh or Shardul Thakur for extra fire power in pace bowling department. It'll be interesting to see how they shape the middle order, where India perhaps needs more reliable faces who can perform steadily in tough conditions.
Shubman Gill (c), Yashashvi Jaiswal (vc), KL Rahul, Sai Sudharshan, Devdutt Paddikal, Karun Nair, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohadmmad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Akashdeep Singh/Shardul Thakur.
