India's Asia Cup 2025 squad announcement date revealed
The reports have claimed that the Asia Cup 2025 squad for the Indian side will be revealed on this date.

In the recent update, it has been revealed that the selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), under new chairman Ajit Agarkar, will pick the 15-member squad for India in the Asia Cup 2025, which is set to take place in five weeks. All the group-stage games will be played across Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“The team will be picked on Aug 19 in Mumbai. The selection committee meeting will be followed by a press conference by chief selector and former India pacer Ajit Agarkar.” The reports of Mumbai Mirror have been addressed. Most of their players have already hit the nets at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to prove their match fitness before the 20-over event.
The entire Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the shortest format, keeping an eye on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to take place earlier next year in India and Sri Lanka. All the teams will get good preparation for the tournament on similar surfaces.
India to announce Asia Cup 2025 squad on August 19
The report has also claimed that India’s regular T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is expected to retain his position as the T20I captain even during the World Cup. That rules out the possibility of the Test captain, Shubman Gill, becoming the all-format leader of the national side. Gill, however, had a fabulous time with the captaincy hat during the five-match Test series in England.
It has also been revealed that Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal are unlikely to get selected for the Asia Cup 2025. The former had a fabulous time during the Champions Trophy 2025 at the same place, but India’s strength in various parts of the T20I squad has played a role in it.
However, if Gill comes into the squad and bats at number three, then one of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Tilak Verma will have to make way out of the side. Samson, on the other hand, brings the wicket-keeping skills with him. Otherwise, they will have to pick Jitesh Sharma as an additional wicket-keeper and keep him in the late middle order.
