India's squad selection for Asia Cup 2025 delayed in Mumbai for this reason
India's squad selection for Asia Cup 2025 has been delayed in Mumbai for this reason.

The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in the presence of chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, was scheduled to attend the press conference at around 1 in the afternoon to announce the 15-member squad for the upcoming 2025 season of the Asia Cup, as Suryakumar Yadav is expected to lead the Blue Brigade.
But the press conference at the BCCI headquarters is expected to be delayed to unveil the squad. Even with just around an hour to go before the Asia Cup 2025 squad selection meeting, the selectors haven’t arrived. It has been reported that the heavy rain in Mumbai has delayed the proceedings.

Due to the inclement weather, the BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, the convenor of the meeting, and a few selectors are yet to reach Mumbai as some of the flights have been diverted. The announcement could get further delayed due to the persistent rain. There are also chances of the press conference being shifted to another date, possibly before the national side departs for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup.

Apart from the Asia Cup 2025 squad selection, the selectors are also expected to announce the 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup of the Blue Brigade. The Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Mumbai on August 19, prompting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to declare the closure of all government offices.
“Considering the red alert for very heavy rainfall in Mumbai city and suburbs, all government, semi-government, and BMC offices (excluding essential services) will remain closed today.” The BMC expressed during the official statement, as it continued to rain from the start of the day.
Hardik Pandya will be an X-factor of the national side, while the premier pacer of the national side, Jasprit Bumrah, is expected to return to the Asia Cup 2025 squad even after missing the fifth and final Test of the recent away England series at the Kennington Oval.
