The former Pakistan pacer, Mohammad Amir, has once again hit the headlines with a bold prediction about the campaign of the Indian cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2026. Just a few days after calling the opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, a slogger, Amir targeted the entire Indian side, claiming the defending champions won’t qualify for the semifinals.

Amir feels that despite finishing as the toppers of Group A, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side will not qualify for the Super 8 stage of the competition. India recently won their fourth group-stage clash against the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite this, the team’s performance has been far from flawless, with the batting side leaving much to be desired.

“If you see their matches, the batting collapsed in all the games, barring the Pakistan contest. The pressure will rise in the Super 8 matches. The way in which South Africa and the West Indies have been playing, they can beat any team.” Amir expressed in the show called ‘Haarna Mana Hai.’

The anchor of the show asked Amir about his semifinal predictions from Group A of the Super 8s, to which Amir replied South Africa and West Indies. The blue brigade will begin their Super 8s campaign on February 22 against the Proteas at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The team will then travel to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for their second Super 8 fixture against Zimbabwe, who will be under the leadership of the spin all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, on February 26. The last Super 8 game for Sky’s army will be against the West Indies on March 01 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, from the Group B of the Super 8 stage of the World Cup 2026, Amir has predicted that Pakistan and New Zealand will advance to the semifinal from this group. The Super 8s stage will begin on February 21 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo between these two predicted teams.
