DC will always have a special place in my heart: Jemimah Rodrigues

For the fourth season, Delhi Capitals have appointed Jemimah Rodrigues as the new captain of the squad. After Meg Lanning led the side in 27 WPL matches, Jemimah became the second skipper for the Capitals.

In conversation with the franchise co-owner Parth Jindal on JioHotstar, Jemimah said, "For you all to trust me with the role feels good. I know what DC has done for me and DC will always have a special place in my heart and I am going to my all for the team. To be trusted in the role feels special. Thank you for the honour. I promise to work hard as always and with a lot of dignity, pride and will give my heart out for this team."

Jemimah is the third leading run-scorer for Delhi Capitals Women, who has scored 507 runs in 24 innings with an average of 28.16 and a strike rate of 139.66, including three half-centuries.

Jemimah further added, "One thing that DC rides on is building a team culture, which is the best culture I have been a part of. I just want to carry that going forward and make sure everyone just feels safe. I believe that when they feel safe outside, then they are able to express themselves and give their lives for the team. Just want to make sure that every player feels valued."

The WPL 2026 will be the fourth season of the tournament that will run between January 9 and February 5, 2025.
