The Indian team is preparing for the fourth Test of the five-match Test series in England, Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, while trailing the crucial away Test series by 2-1. In this crucial moment, while the visiting team is busy in practice, an injury scare has been reported from the Indian camp.

Old Trafford in Manchester will host the fourth Test of the series, starting on July 23. While there is enough time for the preparation, both teams are busy to utilise it in the best way.

Arshdeep Singh injured

During the recent practice session, the Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh got hit with the ball while bowling and had a cut. He is now under medical observation, and his status will be learnt in a few days.

According to The Indian Express report, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said, “Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball and he tried to stop it and it’s just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor and obviously, if he needs stitches or doesn’t need stitches it’s going to be important to our planning for the next few days.”

Arshdeep Singh waiting to make his Test debut

The 26-year-old Arshdeep Singh, India's leading T20I wicket-taker, is yet to make his Test debut. The left-arm pacer has played nine ODIs and 63 T20Is, while he has taken 14 and 99 wickets, respectively. In his first-class cricket career, Singh has taken 66 wickets in 21 matches.

Many experts believe that Singh deserves to get a chance in the ongoing England tour, where his left-arm swing bowling ability can trouble the vulnerable English batting line-up. Shubman Gill-led Indian Test team yet to decide the pace-bowling line-up for the upcoming Manchester Test, while Jasprit Bumrah is likely to feature in this game. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep both pacers are also in strong form along with the medium pace-bowling support from Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, Arshdeep can play a major role in handling Siraj's workload management, but the left-arm pacer first needs to fit in before the beginning of the Manchester Test.

Arshdeep Singh served for Kent in the County Championship Division One 2023, where the left-arm pacer took 13 wickets in five matches.
