The Indian side, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir, refused to collect the Asia Cup Trophy, which was set to be handed over by the President of the Asian Cricket Council and the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, after their victory in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Naqvi also serves as the interior minister of Pakistan. It’s also revealed that the presentation ceremony was delayed later on as there was a standoff between the Blue Brigade players, who refused to collect the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. The latter refused to take a back step from his ritual of handing over the winning title,

It was later taken off the ground before the other presentation ensued. The PCB collected their runners-up medals from Aminul Islam, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Tilak Verma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Abhishek Sharma collected their respective rewards from the sponsors as they didn’t take the winners’ medals.

India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a surface that was getting better for batting. Hardik Pandya, who failed to recover from the injury that he picked up in the last game against Sri Lanka, was ruled out as India had to tinker with their playing eleven a little bit by bringing Rinku Singh for the first time in the side.

Fakhar Zaman nailed 46 runs in 35 balls at a strike rate of 131.43 with the help of two boundaries and two sixes, while Sahibzada Farhan celebrated 57 runs in 38 deliveries at a strike rate of 150 with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. Kuldeep Yadav ran through the middle order of the opposition.

India chased down the target by five wickets with two balls to spare as Tilak Verma remained undefeated on 69 runs in 53 balls at a strike rate of 130.19, while Shivam Dube cracked 33 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 150 with the help of two fours and as many sixes.
