German chancellor Olaf Scholz, paid a visit to the M Chinnaswamy cricket stadium on 26th February, Sunday and comprised both the male and female players of the team Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

During around fifteen minutes, Scholz had a conversation with members of the RCB men’s and women’s teams. Moreover, he also added some discussions with KSCA officials at that time. A German Embassy officer shares that through this time the Chancellor is aware that cricket is the sport that India loves the most.

He also said, “In Germany, cricket is not as popular. Although more than 200,000 Indians in Germany are popularising the sport there.” Also, the official continued, Scholz wants to familiarise himself with the game and what cricket means to India. The courage, potentiality, and passion had impressed him. 

The officials also share that “Moreover, he wanted to understand what the RCB, both the men’s and women’s team, mean to the city, especially as the RCB women’s team embark on the first season of the Women’s Premier League.”

The German Chancellor had earlier arrived in the late afternoon at the Kempegowda International Airport. He was welcomed by Bangalore Police Commissioner C H Pratap Reddy, German Consulate officials, and Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar.

Exclusively it is known that Scholz is on a two-day trip to India. On 25th February, Saturday, a joint discussion held between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took place in Delhi.

On the behalf of the incident, Sudhakar share his opinion and tweeted: “Welcomed the Chancellor of Germany, His Excellency @OlafScholz to Bangalore at Kempegowda International Airport today. This is the first visit from a Chancellor of Germany to India, since 2011, when the Inter-Governmental Consultation (IGC) was set up between our two countries.”
