The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended on May 9, 2025, after a match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was canceled on May 8, 2025, due to security issues. It appears that the IPL will be suspended for approximately one week, according to the web results, meaning that it will most likely resume on May 16, 2025. There were 16 matches remaining scheduled, and the BCCI has finalized three cities to host these matches. As the match between PBKS and DC was abandoned, we could reasonably expect this fixture to be included when the rescheduled schedule is announced. We anticipate two matches on Saturday and Sunday, with a rematch of PBKS and DC included in the anticipated total.
The IPL 2025 was suspended for a week as the military tensions between India and Pakistan grew, arising from the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22 and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor. The BCCI made the decision to suspend the IPL. There were still security threats and even a bomb threat to the franchise's facilities, including Dharmashala and the DDCA Stadium of Delhi, which all raised questions about the safety of players. The overseas players' perceived anxieties, which further delayed logistics, in addition to wanting a safer environment, contributed to the suspension. Accordingly, after completion of ceasefire announcements, the IPL 2025 resumed on May 16 with an amended schedule.

The schedule will move forward beginning May 16, 2025 (Friday). In the relevant first weekend (Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18), there will be two matches each day. The cancellation of the PBKS and DC rematch will be scheduled for the Friday of May 16, with the rematch of PBKS and DC postponed for Saturday or Sunday. The remaining fixtures would involve other IPL teams considering the original group structure (Group A - CSK, RCB, RR, PBKS, and KKR—and Group B - MI, GT, DC, SRH, and LSG). Venues would be selected from the three selected cities: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
