The Mumbai Indians (MI), led by Hardik Pandya, will take on the Gujarat Titans (GT), captained by Shubman Gill, in a pivotal IPL 2025 Match 56 at Wankhede Stadium on the 6th of May. With playoff spots on the line, MI aims to leverage home advantage, while GT fights to stay in contention with a must-win away game.
Mumbai is expected to be hot and humid on 6th May 2025, with temperatures around 29–33°C (84–91°F) and humidity levels to be around 70–80%. No rain is expected, so with no rain, there will be no interruptions. The pitch at Wankhede will be great to bat on as it is a batsmen-friendly surface; short boundaries and a flat surface will make this one a belter for high scores. The first innings is likely to have dew; in addition, the second innings will have dew, which will help the chasing team. Spinners (if any) may get some turn towards the end, but until then medium pacers are the ones to look to vary their efforts. Teams will definitely bowl if they win the coin toss to need to target dew, as it will be plenty at night.
MI and GT clash in a crucial IPL 2025 match at Wankhede Stadium, as both teams are currently in the top 4 in the IPL standings. MI has 14 points from 11 games and has returned to their best level thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback to the bowling unit, making their bowling unit that much more formidable. MI's batting unit is led by the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Will Jacks, but while they're explosive, the batting is admittedly inconsistent. When Tilak Varma's highest strike rate is 124.07 at Wankhede, other players must account for his slow transitions. Hardik Pandya's all-round contributions are valuable, but they have been a little muted as Pandya has been unable to have a massive impact in death overs for MI. If the pitch is spinning, the likes of Mitchell Santner will hold the key, as MI, given their batting woes, will need every run they can collect.

GT has 14 points from 10 matches and has gone 7/10 at scoring consistently in IPL matches this season. The Titans defeated MI in their first matchup this season, 36 runs, with the Titans hitting a good score and having bowlers (Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Rashid Khan) in form to defend that score. The batting unit, led by Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, could generate scoring runs by regularly making a known aggregate in a T20 match, but their scoring rate of 8.94 runs per over for GT has been the slowest rate in IPL 2025. The bowling unit for GT, led by Mohd Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Rashid Khan, has been steady, with R Sai Kishore starting to make inroads as a spinner for GT.
