The 32nd match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season turned out to be a high-voltage thriller, with Delhi Capitals (DC) edging past Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a dramatic Super Over finish. The match had everything—from powerful hitting and tight bowling to nail-biting moments—but one of the biggest turning points came when RR skipper Sanju Samson had to walk off the field, which significantly impacted his team’s momentum.

Sanju Samson, while batting during the final over of the powerplay, felt discomfort on his right side. Despite receiving quick medical attention from the physio and taking a tablet, he was visibly struggling. He attempted to continue but lasted only one more delivery before being forced to retire hurt due to pain around his rib cage.

His injury came at a crucial time in the innings and proved costly for the Rajasthan Royals. With Samson in fine form, his absence in the latter stages of the match left a void in the batting lineup. As RR failed to chase down the target in regulation time and eventually lost in the Super Over, many believe that Samson’s injury played a decisive role in the final outcome.

Sanju Samson provides an update about his injury

Sanju Samson was forced to retire hurt during the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals after feeling discomfort while batting. He had been in excellent form, scoring 31 runs off just 19 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes. Riyan Parag replaced him but failed to make an impact, scoring only 8 runs. After the match, Samson shared that his injury felt "alright" and he hoped for a quick recovery. He mentioned that he would observe his condition the following day to assess his readiness to return.

"It feels alright (his injury). I wasn't just ready to come back and bat. It feels alright now. We will observe it tomorrow and see how it is," the RR skipper said at the post match chat.

Sanju Samson has a history of several injuries, which worries the fans more. The talented batter missed Ranji Trophy matches for Kerala after his finger was injured by a sharp delivery from Jofra Archer when India was facing England at the Wankhede Stadium in a T20I match early this year.
