IPL 2025 is postponed for a week. Three teams have been eliminated already, leaving 7 teams in the race, among which 5 teams are fighting strongly for an entry into the round of four. Teams like Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians are the heavy contenders to play the next round, where only four teams will qualify. If IPL resumes after a week, then BCCI will have to reschedule the remaining matches according to the current fixtures. Which means the date of the final, which was May 25 as per the previous schedule, can be pushed into June. If this happens, then the teams in the playoffs will suffer most, as some of their overseas players can get a call to play the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final between South Africa and Australia on June 11 in England. For preparations, both of the teams can arrange their respective training camps one week before the final match. Between the IPL and the WTC final, players of the two nations will need some rest to refresh their minds and bodies. Keeping the important match in mind, IPL franchises may be forced to leave multiple Aussie and South African players from the squad.
Currently in 1st place on the ladder, almost qualified for the playoffs, and can be worried about the services from Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee. These two South African cricketers might leave the IPL to join their national camps. Though their absence may not harm GT too much, as they have taken only two wickets each so far in IPL 2025.
Remaining group stage matches: vs. Delhi Capitals (A), vs. Lucknow Super Giants (H), and vs. Chennai Super Kings (H).
Like GT, RCB is almost qualified for the playoffs. Royal Challengers Bengaluru can be affected heavily if Josh Hazelwood gets a call to play in the WTC final. The Aussie fast bowler was on song with RCB, claiming 18 wickets in 10 matches, at an economy of 8.44. Australia's Tim David and South Africa's Lungi Ngidi are the other two cricketers who can lower the RCB squad depth.
Remaining group stage matches: vs. Lucknow Super Giants (A), vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad (H), vs. Kolkata Knight Riders (H).

Punjab Kings' dominance under Shreyas Iyer's leadership can be jolted as they have multiple players from South Africa and Australia, like Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, and Xavier Bartlett. Jansen has a high chance to play in the WTC final. Theing all-rounder has claimed 11 wickets in 12 matches with PBKS in IPL 2025 so far and scored 75 runs with the bat too.
Remaining group stage matches: vs. Mumbai Indians (H), vs. Rajasthan Royals (A).
Mumbai Indians can suffer if their opening batter and wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton gets a call from the South African cricket board for the WTC final. Rickelton has scored 336 runs in 12 matches this season, and his partnership with Rohit Sharma was proving crucial for the former champion team. Reece Topley and Lizaad Williams are two other cricketers whose services MI can miss.
Remaining group stage matches: vs. Punjab Kings (A) and vs. Delhi Capitals (H).
The Axar Patel-led side has Tristan Stubbs, Mitchell Starc, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Faf du Plessis as Australian and South African cricketers. Uncertainty around Stubbs and Starc, as both of them can have the chance to represent South Africa and Australia, respectively. In 12 matches, Stubbs has scored 259 runs for PBKS, and Starc has bagged 14 wickets so far.
Remaining group stage matches: vs. Gujarat Titans (H), vs. Mumbai Indians (A).
