Prithvi Shaw remains unsold in the IPL 2026 auction. The talented cricketer remained unsold in back-to-back IPL auctions. It was a surprising moment for the cricket fans on social media platforms when no one in the auction room showed any interest for the batter.

The batter did well for Maharashtra in domestic cricket in the recent past. Along with Cameron Green and some other prominent cricketers, there was hype around Prithvi as well. But as it showed, the franchises perhaps lost interest in the batter.

Shaw went to the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of only INR 75 Lakh. With the base price, anyone in the room could bid for the top-order batter. As there was no paddle up, Mallika Sagar, IPL 2026 auctioneer, had to say, "Prithvi Shaw remains unsold."

Prithvi Shaw unsold in IPL 2026 auction

Before the auction for a fresh Indian Premier League season, Shaw displayed his batting potential for Maharashtra. Prithvi Shaw scored a spectacular double century (222 runs off 141 balls) for Maharashtra against Chandigarh in a Ranji Trophy match in late October 2025, marking the third-fastest first-class double ton by an Indian and his first Ranji hundred for the team, which significantly boosted his comeback hopes. After that, there were few half-centuries from his bat as well for the state team.

As he scored tons of runs for Maharashtra, a part of cricket fans assumed that this time he might find a new destination in the league. Few thought that Kolkata Knight Riders, with the biggest purse in the auction room, could go for the batter. But they, too, remained unmoved, and the player went unsold.
