The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is just three days away, and the fans are already excited. Ahead of the tournament, the captains have met formally. BCCI has made a few changes to the tournament's guidelines, and the captains will receive a formal instruction today.

While some of the players have already done this, Ishan Kishan and Riyan Parag are the new skippers to join the others this season. They will also click pictures with each other and be a part of the meeting. Kishan is a stand-in captain for SRH since Pat Cummins is injured and hasn't confirmed his arrival yet.

When and where IPL 2026 captains will meet before season start

The IPL 2026 captains will meet at the BCCI’s headquarters in Mumbai. It is expected to commence around 4:30 pm and last until 6 pm. Moreover, the meeting is not going to be live-streamed or broadcast anywhere. Meanwhile, the meeting will be addressed by former India player Javagal Srinath and Nitin Menon, who are the heads of the match referees and umpires panels, respectively.

“There is nothing new in the regulations this year. Some of the captains and coaches are new, and it is important to inform them about the rules,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Full agenda including photoshoot, challenges and key discussions

The captains' meeting is a ritual that is followed every year in the BCCI headquarters, where the umpires also gather around to inform the players about the match rules and new guidelines added by the IPL committee. Ahead of the IPL 2026, the management has made a few rule changes, which will be discussed in today's meeting.

The talking points of today's meet will be two bouncers per over, checks for the size of the bat, replacement of the ball when it is lost or unfit for play, retired out calls, and use of saliva. The players will engage in a photoshoot, and those will be released on social media after the meeting.

What to expect from captains ahead of IPL 2026 kickoff

Fans can look forward to insights on leadership styles, key players to watch, and how teams plan to adapt to new rules or conditions.

The captains will also address media questions, speak about team balance, and reflect on preparations during training camps. The starting point will be toss and the understanding of the pitch conditions. Apart from this, performing during the entire season is something that they will have in mind throughout.
