Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 05, it’s nearly confirmed that MS Dhoni, the former captain of the yellow franchise, won’t feature in the fixture due to injury.

MS Dhoni hasn’t played in this season’s IPL for the five-time champions against the Rajasthan Royals and the Punjab Kings, and he is unlikely to be part of the next three games. That has raised the question whether the wicket-keeper has played his last game against RCB, as the former CSK star, Ambati Rayudu, made some wild predictions.

Ambati Rayudu makes wild predictions on RCB-CSK clash

The first question on ESPNcricinfo's social media was whether RCB would be twice as likely to make the playoffs this season as the CSK side, to which the former Indian player gave the green signal. He also acknowledged that Rajat Patidar will likely win more trophies than Ruturaj Gaikwad, having already won one title.

The third question of the segment was whether Dhoni would play IPL longer than Kohli. Rayudu has a wry smile and lifted the cross button. On the question of Kohli winning more IPL trophies with RCB, as Ambati Rayudu did with CSK, the veteran denied the future.

In 10 years, will RCB have the same number of trophies as CSK? Rayudu didn’t accept the statement. Many have claimed that RCB-MI is the new MI-CSK, which hasn’t been put on the green signal by the batter, who later also reckoned that Dhoni perhaps has played his last game for CSK against RCB.

RCB and CSK’s different starts in IPL 2026

Royal Challengers Bengaluru played the curtain raiser of the IPL 2026 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at home, where they completed the chase of 203 runs by six wickets in just 15.4 overs. Devdutt Padikkal was excellent for his 61 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 234.62, thanks to seven boundaries and four sixes.
