When the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reduced the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to 153/3 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, many perhaps predicted that they would probably restrict the home side to 220 or under that score. 

But those players and the fans of the visitors, perhaps, were not aware of Tim David and his power, who added 30 more runs to the imaginary score. The Chennai bowlers had absolutely no knowledge of how they would be able to stop the right-handed batter.

Jamie Overton, after two good overs of 1/12, came into the attack for the penultimate over. It was a poor delivery on the pads from the England-born as David whipped it off his legs over the backward square leg for a massive six. After a couple of runs on the next delivery, he took the carnage to another level. 

The third delivery of the over was pulled off the outside edge over the wicket-keeper as it bounced onto the ropes for a huge six. The Singapore-born celebrated his 50 in just 21 balls.

David picked the fourth delivery of the over from Overton and launched it over the bowler’s head straight down the ground for the same result, before finishing the over with another six as he launched it way over the stadium into the deep square leg region.

CSK’s embarrassing bowling boosts RCB at home

David’s eight sixes became the second-most sixes being hit by a batter at number five or lower for the RCB side, along with Ab de Villiers. CSK decided to come up with the wide bowling plan, but the RCB batters were prepared for it as they nailed the shots, having got under it on most occasions.

It was also unlucky for Anshul Kamboj, getting the wicket of David by knocking off the leg stump, only for the ball to be a no-ball. Their spinner, Noor Ahmed’s performance in the middle overs, has also been an issue for them. Their approach with the ball and the team combination hasn’t worked in their favor at all.
